Overall: I'd only recommend it to those with a love for 'so bad, it's good' films. Meanwhile, Billy and Elizabeth ponder the idea that there is something odd about her uncle, although what it is they can’t quite put their fingers on…. Apparently, being foreman also entails being Elizabeth’s lover, since apparently Billy took both positions from him at the same time. There's been plenty of Cowboy Crossovers, but this is one of the oddest titles I ever witness. He is coiffed to look like some devil leering throughout the picture at his 18 year old "niece." The character of Billy the Kid is nothing, nothing, nothing like the real outlaw (surprise!) Bar-B ranch foreman Billy (Chuck Courtney) proposes to his blond boss (Melinda Plowman), unaware her top-hatted uncle (John Carradine) is a vampire. Wouldn't you hate to go through life never having seen something with the title "Billy the Kid versus Dracula"? ads for that skin cream. There were quite a few old favorites working in this one. But the important thing is that the logic must be internally consistent. More western than horror film, the action climaxes in a silver mine as Dracula is cornered by Billy the Kid and the town doctor, who inexplicably just happens to know everything there is to know about vampires. Then there is the badly done day for night lighting that makes it hard to see. I would have used a lap-dissolve....:( Overall you have to see this movie to believe it! But as the film begins, it quickly becomes clear that these details do not matter after all, because Billy the Kid isn’t really Billy the Kid—the film apparently is set in some sort of alternate history in which Mr. Bonney abandoned his outlaw ways, did not run afoul of Sheriff Garrett, and instead became foreman at a ranch, where he is engaged to marry the young daughter of the ranch owner. The rubber battery-operated bat, the horrible dialogue and irritating characters (especially the German/Austrian immigrant lady), and especially the obscure placement in time of the film: the 1800s town set; Billy's 70s style ranch house--complete with bead curtain! Producers liked his way of shooting within a budget and audiences liked the stories he told on film, so his films usually made money and his movies and TV shows were seldom boring to watch. Billy the Kid's life was the stuff of legends, and even today it is almost impossible to disentangle fact from fiction. External Reviews as the town Dr., and a few others whose names won't ring any bells but whose faces are instantly recognizable to anyone who has ever seen a Western or a Cop movie/TV show. That’s a given. How could I resist a title like "Billy The Kid Versus Dracula.". I used to enjoy the Abbot and Costello movies where they meet the mummy or Dracula or Frankenstein, but they were comedies and not expected to be taken seriously. The title says he is Dracula, but it's never mention in the film. My favorites have to be Virginia Christine as Eva Oster - a German who is inexplicably traveling in America with her husband and daughter spouting fear for vampires, and Olive Carey as Dr. Henrietta Hull - or as Carradine so succinctly says, "the backwoods female pill slinger." However, he is somehow able to convince them that he is not a vampire, and, as a gesture of goodwill, allows them to take his room for the evening while he follows Billy to the Underhill ranch. Moments later, the immigrant family arrives, still shaken by the earlier vampire attack, and are horrified when their daughter recognizes “Underhill” as the vampire who attacked her. But of course, this is all a diabolical trick, and the vampire returns that night to finish the job on the poor immigrants’ daughter.
